Verilux
Long-running US lighting brand behind the HappyLight range of LED light therapy lamps sold at most major retailers.
What Verilux makes
Verilux sells HappyLight light therapy lamps and task lights. The company says its work on indoor daylight began over 60 years ago and that the name means “true light.” HappyLight lamps are among the most widely stocked therapy lamps in US retail, which is why they show up in so many roundups.
Claims to check
Verilux describes HappyLight as “LED, full-spectrum light that is safe, healthy, and effective.” Full-spectrum is a marketing term with no fixed definition. What matters for light therapy is how many lux reach your eyes at the distance you sit, and for how long. Check the distance printed with each model’s lux rating, since smaller HappyLight models reach their rated output only when close to the face. Our guide to using a SAD lamp and how many lux you need cover this in detail.
Warranty and returns
Verilux’s warranty page gives 1 to 3 years of coverage depending on the product, with one extra year if you register it. Items bought on verilux.com have a 60-day money-back guarantee, but you pay return shipping and the item must be unused and in its original packaging. Compare models on our light therapy lamps page.
