Who Philips is
Royal Philips was founded in Eindhoven in 1891 and is headquartered in Amsterdam. It now calls itself “a focused leader in health technology.” Philips separated its lighting business in 2016; that business became Signify, which sells Philips Hue bulbs under license. The wake-up lights stayed with Philips, which is why Hue has its own brand page.
What Philips sells here
Philips makes the SmartSleep line of wake-up lights. The US site’s light therapy page lists the Wake-up Light HF3471/60 at $129.99 and the Wake-up Light Plus HF3485/60 at $169.99 suggested retail, alongside other models. Some listings mention dusk simulation, a gradual dimming at bedtime. The page shows a 2-year warranty badge, though it does not tie it to a specific model.
What the evidence says
Wake-up lights are dawn simulators, not light therapy lamps. They reach far lower brightness than a 10,000 lux light box. The research on dawn simulation is mostly small trials with mixed results, covered in our guide do sunrise alarm clocks work. Philips does not make sleep or health claims for these lights on the page we checked.
