Who makes Philips Hue

Philips Hue is sold by Signify, which is headquartered in Eindhoven, the Netherlands and listed on Euronext Amsterdam since May 2016 after its spin-off from Royal Philips. Signify uses the Philips name under license. Philips wake-up lights are made by Philips itself and have their own page.

What Hue sells

The Hue range covers smart bulbs, strips, lamps, fixtures, outdoor lights, TV sync lights and controls such as bridges, switches and sensors. The product we list is the White Ambiance A19, a tunable white bulb with no color LEDs. That is enough for a basic circadian setup: cool, bright white for mornings and warm, dim light for evenings, on a schedule.

Limits worth knowing

Tunable white bulbs only go so warm. For the last hour before bed, a dim red or amber source changes the clock less than even the warmest white. And no indoor bulb matches outdoor light in the morning. Our guides to morning sunlight and the best light color for sleep explain why.
