TrueDark
Blue light blocking glasses brand created by Dave Asprey, with Daylights, Sunsets and Twilights lenses for different times of day.
Who TrueDark is
TrueDark was founded by Dave Asprey. It sells blue light blocking glasses in three lens lines: Daylights for daytime, Sunsets for evening and Twilights for the hour before sleep. There is also a Signature Series and prescription Daylights.
Claims to check
The homepage says Twilights “block nearly 100% of blue, green, and violet wavelengths.” Red lenses that cut green as well as blue do filter more of the light the body clock responds to than amber lenses do, so the direction of the claim is plausible. The page does not publish a transmission curve, though.
TrueDark also cites an EEG study saying Twilights shift brainwaves from beta to alpha or delta. The homepage does not link or name the study, and we could not verify it, so we give it no weight.
The independent trials of amber and red lenses are small and short; our guide do blue light glasses work summarizes them. Strong red lenses make it hard to see colors and read screens, which is a real trade-off for evening use.
Returns
TrueDark offers free shipping on US orders and links to a refund policy; the homepage does not state the return window or a warranty. Compare Twilights with other evening lenses on our blue light glasses page.
