Who Ra Optics is

Ra Optics was started by Matt Maruca, its founder and CEO, and launched in 2017. The company sells glasses with three lens types (Sunset for evening, Daylight for daytime screens, and BlueSync), plus Lumios LED bulbs. Frames are described as German steel or Italian Mazzucchelli acetate.

Claims to check

Ra Optics says its Sunset lenses block “more than 99% of blue light.” The homepage does not link a measured transmission curve or a third-party test, so treat the figure as a vendor claim. Deep red evening lenses like Sunset filter more of the spectrum than pale yellow “computer” lenses, which is the relevant distinction for sleep.

The independent evidence for amber or red lenses before bed comes from a small number of short trials, not from any single brand. One randomized crossover trial in 14 adults with insomnia found modest sleep improvements with amber Uvex safety lenses compared with clear lenses.
