Dr.meter
Budget measuring tool brand selling lux meters, multimeters, pH meters and moisture meters, best known here for the LX1330B light meter.
What Dr.meter makes
Dr.meter calls itself a “Measuring Tool Expert”. Its catalog covers light meters, multimeters, pH meters, wood moisture meters, power supplies and a few unrelated items such as kids’ earmuffs. Most sales go through its Amazon storefront.
Why a lux meter is useful
A cheap lux meter answers practical circadian questions: is your light therapy lamp actually delivering its rated lux at the distance you sit, how bright is your desk in the morning, and how dim is your bedroom at night? Our lux levels tool and how many lux do you need guide give the target numbers.
Limits of budget meters
Budget lux meters measure photopic lux, which is weighted to the eye’s visual sensitivity, not to the blue-sensitive response that drives the body clock. They read white light well enough for comparisons but can be less accurate under colored or narrow-band LEDs such as red night lights. For spectrum, you need a spectrometer, which costs far more. See our light meters page for both types.
Warranty
The Dr.meter site links to an extra-year warranty page from its support menu, but the homepage does not state the terms.
