Who Chroma is
Chroma sells through getchroma.co under the company name Advanced Human Engineering, LLC, and ships US orders from a US warehouse. Reviewer Alex Fergus names Michael Traperio as the founder. The range covers handheld red and near-infrared devices (Ironforge, Ironforge Mini, Chromatorch, Radiance), room lights (Sky Portal, Red Portal, Skylight), two lines of glasses (Nightshades for evening, Golden Glo for daytime) and The Bulb. A separate storefront, based.getchroma.co, takes bitcoin and applies a 5% discount.
What we list
Three Chroma products appear here. The Ironforge handheld is on our red light therapy page. Nightshades Classic, the evening lens, is on our blue light glasses page. Golden Glo is sold as a daytime lens that passes cyan light, so it is not a sleep product and we do not list it. The Bulb, which switches between red, amber and 3800K daylight, is on our circadian light bulbs page.
Claims to check
Chroma publishes more numbers than most brands in these categories: wavelengths and LED drive power for the Ironforge, a transmission chart for Nightshades, and melanopic ratios for each mode of The Bulb. None of these come with a named test lab. The one independent measurement we found, a spectrometer reading of an earlier Ironforge, came in far below Chroma’s headline irradiance figure, partly because it was taken at 6 inches rather than at the faceplate.
The footer says Chroma’s products are general wellness items, not medical devices, and do not require FDA clearance. Product pages still list benefits such as better sleep, recovery and focus, supported by customer surveys of 16 to 50 people. Treat those as marketing. Warranty and returns
Chroma offers a 100-day satisfaction guarantee on most products, starting from delivery, and a 5-year warranty on its light devices. Returns must come back in original Chroma packaging. Glasses must be scratch-free, and swaps or returns for style reasons carry a 15% restocking fee plus return shipping. The Skylight is excluded from the 100-day guarantee.
