Carex
Home health brand, a division of Drive Medical, whose Day-Light range includes some of the best-known budget 10,000 lux therapy lamps.
Who Carex is
Carex Health Brands is a division of Drive Medical. It sells home health products under about ten brands, including mobility aids, bath safety equipment and pain relief devices, and says it has been in business for over 45 years. Light therapy is a small part of that catalog, sold under the Day-Light name.
Day-Light lamps
The Day-Light Classic Plus is rated at 10,000 lux at 12 to 14 inches, with a 5,000 lux task setting. Carex says the built-in screen blocks 100% of UV light. The 12 to 14 inch working distance is close, so you sit nearer the lamp than with some rivals that hit 10,000 lux at 20 inches or more. We have not found independent photometer readings that confirm or contradict the rating. See how many lux you need for why distance changes the dose.
The product page labels the lamp “Clinical/Medical” on its spec sheet but does not cite any regulatory clearance.
Warranty and returns
Carex states that all Day-Light lamps carry a five-year warranty against manufacturer defects. Its about page also mentions a 90-day return policy. Compare Carex against other options on our light therapy lamps page.
