What Alaska Northern Lights makes
Alaska Northern Lights sells a short range of bright light boxes: the Aurora LightPad Mini, Aurora LightPad MAX, NorthStar 10,000 and Sunlight Jr. LED, plus replacement bulbs and parts. The company lists a North Las Vegas, Nevada address and says it has sold light boxes since 1993. Its sister company, Sperti, sells UV sunlamps, which are a different product type.
Lux claims and what they mean
Each lamp is rated at 10,000 lux at a stated distance: 24 inches for the NorthStar 10,000, 25 inches for the Mini and 30 inches for the MAX. Those distances are longer than many budget lamps, which matters because lux falls quickly as you move away. The figures are the company’s own; we have not found independent photometer readings. Our guide to using a SAD lamp explains why distance matters as much as the headline number.
The site describes its lamps as “100% UV-Free” and states they are general wellness products not evaluated by the FDA.
Warranty and returns
The company advertises a 7-year warranty and a 60-day money-back guarantee with free return shipping. Its homepage gives two different “years of trust” figures (30 and 23), so treat marketing copy with some care. Compare models on our light therapy lamps page.
